The Key Lime Pie OS may be introduced at Google’s Android BBQ conference in Texas, according to Digital Journal. The tech giant is expected to unveil the Nexus 5 smartphone and Nexus 10 2 tablet at the two-day event.
The latest version of Android Jelly Bean 4.3 was released July 24, with updates to features such as Bluetooth Low Energy support, Bluetooth Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) 1.3 support, 4K resolution support, bug fixes and many security/performance enhancements.
The release of Android 4.3 last months means that Android 5.0 will not be released for at least a few more months.
Google has not announced an official release date, but Android fans speculate that it may come as soon as October 2013. Google will be celebrating Android’s fifth birthday in October, which has led some to believe they will celebrate the date with the release of their next generation OS.
Key Lime Pie update could include Samsung Orb for the camera, which is software to create a panoramic photo across 360 degrees. However, this is software from Samsung software, which means this feature may only be provided on Samsung devices. This feature is already being used by Google device users, called Photosphere.
Another addition to the Android upgrade is expected to be a revamped keyboard, making the typing experience smoother and smarter. The swipe-typing technology is expected to be vastly improved.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is set to be among the devices set to receive the 5.0 Key Lime Pie update when it is released.
According the some rumors Android 5.0 Key lime Pie will support devices like Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7. Other than Nexus devices it will support the Samsung devices like Galaxy S4, S3, Note 2, Note 10.1 and also some other popular devices like Xperia Z, Xperia SP, Xperia V and Tab Z. And HTC J and HTC T6 Will also in Key lime Pie Device running list.

The Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 device has already spotted running for testing with build number KRS368 and KRS365, respectively which shows Google is already doing testing with its new version.The Build numbers starting from ‘K’ clearly shows that the new version which is Google testing is Key Lime pie of any other name but starting with ‘K’ only.You can see the previous builds of android Like Gingerbread build starting with ‘G’, Ice Cream Sandwich build device number starting with ‘I’, latest launched Jelly Bean starting with letter ‘J’. Hence this means the Version which Google is testing on these two nexus device must the new version starting with letter ‘K’ or might be named as Key Lime Pie.
According to Technical Specifications Android 5.0 is going to run on Linux Kernel 3.8 with some changes to support devices with 512 RAM.The New Upgraded OS will be launched with new Multiple Device Support with Cross device SMS synchronize with Google Cloud Service.Some of the Features of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean like Project Butter, OpenGL ES 3.0, Low Energy Bluetooth are going to be Transfer into Android 5.0 also. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie expected release date somewhere in October or November.
